A Day in Marshall

We got back to Marshall (Steven's hometown) on Sunday afternoon. That was great because we were able to see some of his family before leaving on Monday moring.

Our first stop was for ice cream and a walk to the fountain. Steve claims it's better than the one in Madison. It's pretty....until the water starts changing colors like it belongs in vegas.

Have you ever seen a black squirrel? I hadn't since I had been to Michigan! Pretty crazy!

We stopped to see our favorite little family (Steve's aunt, uncle, and cousins). Here's Sydney. She's our flower girl. Steve hopes she keeps this cheesy smile for the wedding pictures. I LOVE her white hair.

We took Whitey swimming. He's like a little Steve! Pretty scary. After swimming, we headed to the pond to search for some real frogs....he caught 3!

Up North

Last Wednesday, we headed north for a wonderful mini-vaca with Steven's parents. We left Thursday morning for a weekend in northern Michigan. We had a wonderful time seeing the sights and enjoying each other.
One of our first stops was in Traverse City for some putt-putt golf at the Piarate's Cove. It was voted Michigan's best putt-putt golf course. Before going, we joked about how horrible I am, but I WON! I beat Steve and his mom! I am so proud.
Thursday night we stayed in the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. Even though it's an ugly building (Steve's opinion), it was beautiful inside. Unfortunately, they were having the annual governor's meeting and 38 governors were there along with canines, state police, and bomb squads. It was a bit scary!
I saw this place on the food network a long time ago and had to go. It's the Cherry Hut near Frankfort, Michigan where we spent the weekend. It has all kinds of cherry goodies and wonderful cherry pie.
Here we are on the beach! We took this one ourselves...hopefully there are some better ones of the two of us from the Dunes on the other camera.
Ahhhh! What a view! I miss it already!

What else is new?

Well, Woodz is continuing his physical therapy. He had to leave 98 degrees and start his own boy band....102 degrees.

I decided I needed a hobby so I started to "bead." It's really pretty fun and I can create cool stuff to give to friends and family.

This week my mom and I did some serious wedding work. We finalized the food....get ready for some southern fixins! We found my dress.....it's sooooo pretty and lots of fun. We purchased the stuff for programs, and I am planning to make my own headpiece (remember, I am beading). The wedding planning is going really well! Only 10 more months!

That's about it....I guess we aren't too exciting!

You Gotta Regatta!!!!!

Every summer, my favorite town, Madison, (right across the river from where I live) hosts the Madison Regatta. It's a huge event with all kinds of fun stuff and a hydroplane race. It's a lot of fun....much like what you see on my favorite movie...Madison! We headed down there last Thursday so we wouldn't miss anything. Friday, we had a wonderful day of boating on the Ohio river. We both got a pretty nice tan. I'm officially back to looking like a "Megxican." (what a goofy pet name) Friday evening we headed downtown for the parade. This was Woodz's first Regatta parade. We went to see the hydroplanes, but ended up loving the Shriners.
We saw shriners driving everything! Including....toilets!

This dancing man is there every year....he sure does know how to shake his hips.

Steven asked...."Why did you put a picture of a van in there?" Notice the head poking out!

There were men traveling up and down the road selling blow up toys and cotton candy. We couldn't resist when he yelled out, "It's yummy for your tummy."

We couldn't resist getting our picture taken with the old Miss Madison. It was in second place this year!

These boats didn't win, but it's a good picture. If you look in the background, our reception site is on top of the hill.....just below the bridge in the picture.

Here's the wonderful Miss Madison in all her glory!

98 Degrees!

Here's a little update on Steve's knee. He's been going to physical therapy for about a week. When he started, he could only bend it 82 degrees. Now, he can bend it 98 degrees! That's pretty exciting stuff.

11 Months!

In case you haven't noticed.....only 11 months until our wedding. That's less time than we have been engaged...so that doesn't seem like long to us. Last weekend, we headed to Cicero, IN for a great time. Saturday morning Karla, Betsy, and I went dress shopping....I think that was the 9th time. I lost track. Luckily, I found 2 dresses! Since then, I think I have decided on one. Obviously, I can't post a picture but I promise it's great. I can post some pictures of possible bridesmaid dresses.

Here are the shoes that Karla and Betsy jokingly decided they wanted to wear.....they would look good....on a hooker!

Here is a possible bridesmaid dress. We loved the fit and the color.

Thank you Betsy for inviting everyone to your beautiful house! We had a great time Saturday night at our engagement party. It was so much fun seeing everyone.
