Rupert!

I met Rupert (he was on Survivor)! He came to our little town, Carrollton, KY to promote Disability Awareness Week. My friend, Amy, started DAW to promote understanding of people with disabilities. My class was honored for their work with disabled children. It was a great night, and he was a VERY nice guy.

Rupert called this the "prom pose."
Amy was the one in charge...Rupert LOVED her!

The guy in the middle is my boss...the others are teachers. We all worked together to make the night a great time.

Long Time...No Blog!

I'm guessing I have some pretty impatient people upset with me because I haven't posted anything new in a while. Sorry!

Now for the updates on my patients.

Unfortunately, on May 21st, Grandma Katie passed away. Although we will REALLY miss her (already do), I am glad that she is no longer in pain. Steve and I enjoyed her last few days with her. She REALLY enjoyed Steve because since he had his knee surgery he laid on her hospital bed while she rested on her beloved couch. She claimed Steve was her "bedfellow."

Also, before she passed away, she informed us that she WILL be at the wedding. However, she doesn't want to sit in the front, she will be sitting in the back with some of my other Angels, and when people walk in, they are going to say, "I can't believe they are here!" I am so glad she'll be there.

The good news is Steve is recovering from his surgery. He went to work last week and is going on his own (driving with his left foot) this week. I'll be heading there on Saturday to continue with my nursing duties. On June 15th, he goes back to the dr. and hopefully will be off the crutches!

Yeah, he's not that bad. :)

I have one more day of teaching, a staff day, and then I am finished for the year. I am going to stay in KY for one more year and search for a new job once we are married. I really like my school and my boss, and I HATE the job search. :)

My plans this summer are to spend time up in Champaign with Steve during the week and go down to "the river" on weekends. If any of you are interested in coming down to the river let me know! We'd love to have you!

GOOD NEWS!

It seems like these days, we rarely get good news, but today Woodz got his grades from his second semester in grad school. We were worried that there wasn't much room to improve because he got a 3.9 his first semester, but he did! Woodz got a 4.0!!!!

What a Weekend!

So I finally have some interesting pictures to put on our blog. We had a crazy extended weekend and I was sure to take some pictures.

First, I left KY on Friday and headed to IL. Then, we drove to NC, IN on Saturday to see Grandma Kate. She was feelin' pretty well so we got in a heated game of Deal or No Deal with her.
Here's Grandma Kate when she won $263,000. My aunt Susie and Woodz are in the background.

Here's Grandma Kate and Woodz with our new favorite game...Deal or No Deal. We can't wait to play with her again.

After our stop in New Castle, we headed to Michigan for a day of fun before Woodz's surgery. We had lots of fun clowning around with the Feasel kids.

Here's our beautiful flower girl, Sydney. She claimed she ate 560 marshmallows. I think it was more like 60...but it was a lot! Here's steve with Sydney, Bradley, and Lauren. The funny thing is this picture was hardly staged...these kids normally hang all over Steve.

After Bradley caught Steve (he really did), he caught a FISH!

We had a great weekend with the kids and grandma before Steven's surgery on Tuesday. Surgery went well. I was very anxious to see him when he was finished. When we finally got to see him, he was pretty drugged...and funny. Now, he's at home in Marshall and doing pretty well. I'm going up there tomorrow to give him some TLC.

Happy Thoughts and Prayers Needed!

If you haven't heard, the next month or so is going to be VERY busy.

First of all, unfortunately, my Grandma Kate is very sick with cancer. It started out as lung cancer, but now it has spread to her bones and who knows where else. Most days, she stays the same, but some days she gets worse, and doesn't get better. Recently, she had to start using the wheel chair. The only good thing about all of this is I get to spend quality time with her because she needs 24 hour care. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't she cute?!

To add to the stress and worry, Woodz is having knee surgery on May 8th. I can't say much because it was my idea. Apparently that farm boy of mine was doing some crazy stunt when he was a kid and broke his knee without knowing it. The surgeon is going to take a piece of bone out of his hip and put it into his knee. He should be on crutches for about 6 weeks. Let's hope he follows the doctor's orders.

He's pretty darn cute, too!

So, that's it. I think after all of this, I am going to need a nice summer vacation! Through all of this, your happy thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated.
